Through the Lens: Lizzie Kuebler Captures the Heart of Elon Athletics
By James Silk

As the class of 2025 prepares to turn the page, few students have shaped the way Elon University tells its stories quite like Lizzie Kuebler. A Journalism major with a minor in Sports Management, Lizzie has spent the last four years learning how to report on the world and capture it in motion.

Through her work with Elon Sports Vision and as a Video Production Assistant for Elon Athletics, Lizzie became a vital part of the team behind the scenes. She interviewed athletes, assisted with camera operations, captured football photography, and boosted social content that brought Phoenix sports to life. She also mentored younger students, helping them develop their skills and gain confidence in high-pressure environments.

Her footage has lit up jumbotrons, Instagram feeds, and Fox Sports streams, telling powerful, authentic stories.
"It's more than just filming games," Lizzie says. "It's about telling stories and finding the emotion in the moment — the quiet pregame focus, the celebration after a win, or the heartbreak after a tough loss. That's what people remember."

From lugging gear up to press boxes, to directing multi-camera shoots courtside, Lizzie has seen the inner workings of college athletics up close — and played a significant role in shaping how the public sees them too. Her creativity and work ethic made her a go-to team member in Elon Sports Vision, where collaboration, speed, and technical precision are all essential.

One of her proudest accomplishments was when they had an all-female broadcast for a January 2024 women's basketball game. Lizzie had the opportunity to be a sideline reporter who captured the team's vibrant energy. "It was a very empowering day for not just women who were already in the sports industry but also for women who plan to pursue a career in sports or sports broadcasting."

Balancing production with her studies was never easy. Long nights were spent in the McEwen editing suites, and her early mornings prepping for game-day shoots. But Lizzie says those challenges taught her determination, time management, and how to thrive in fast-paced media environments. She credits her mentors and professors for pushing her to aim higher and never settle. Lizzie mentioned professors Tom Nelson and Alex Luchsinger, whom she credited for helping her to become better at shooting and editing journalistic stories.

As she prepares to graduate on May 23rd, 2025, Lizzie reflects on her time at Elon with pride — and a slight disbelief at how quickly it flew by. "I came in with not a single thing on my resume, and I am leaving with more experience than I can count, which will help launch me into a future career." Her dream is simple: keep telling stories that bring fans closer to the sports they love.

Lizzie Kuebler leaves Elon with a portfolio of powerful work, a reputation for excellence, and the kind of passion that professors can't teach in a classroom. She defines how we see Elon sports — and wherever she goes next, you can be sure she'll show the world what's worth watching.
